St Stephen’s Hospital Hervey Bay is pleased to introduce Peter Wood following his recent appointment as General Manager.
Peter joins St Stephen’s and the UnitingCare Queensland network of hospitals with 30 years’ clinical and leadership experience in healthcare gained both in Australia and internationally.
For more than 20 years, Peter has held senior leadership positions in healthcare, including most recently within the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service, where he was Executive Director Fraser Coast with responsibility for Hervey Bay and Maryborough hospitals.
Peter has also previously held appointments as Executive Director BMI Healthcare and General Manager roles with portfolios including medicine, surgery, cardiology, Emergency Services and Critical Care.
Peter holds a Bachelor of Science with honours in Health Management, a postgraduate Diploma in Healthcare Management, and a Master of Healthcare Leadership and Management at the universities of Lancaster and Auckland.
A proud Hervey Bay resident, Peter said he is passionate about delivering healthcare services for the Fraser Coast community.
“I’m interested in matching healthcare with population demand, exploring Indigenous healthcare needs, complimenting private and public healthcare services, and I look forward to intertwining the development of local healthcare services with my PHD study in developing cardiology services to match population need,” Peter said.
